TIGHITCO Relocates to Berlin - (May 01, 2007)

PRESS RELEASE

Mayor Salina announces the sale of 245 Old Brickyard Lane, Berlin, Connecticut

The property at 245 Old Brickyard Lane, Berlin has been sold to 245 Old Brickyard, LLC, an investment group that has significant industrial property holdings in the Central Connecticut area. The seller was Sherwood Properties Limited Partnership. Timothy J. D'Addabbo, Senior Director of Cushman & Wakefield brokered the transaction.

245 Old Brickyard, LLC has in turn leased the property to TIGHITCO, Inc. an aerospace manufacturing firm based in Atlanta, Georgia that will be relocating its Vernon, Connecticut facility to Berlin. With the move the company will be more than doubling the size of its manufacturing operation and its workforce. Christopher Hamel, Vice President & General Manager for TIGHITCO, Inc. said, "TIGHITCO, Inc. and the property owner will be making extensive renovations to the building including replacement of the roof and HVAC systems, and extensive interior renovations. Our plan is to complete the renovation project and move into the facility by early fall. We're extremely excited about the expansion of our business into Berlin, and the jobs we will create in the area."

TIGHITCO, Inc. is a manufacturer of composite and metal aircraft structures for the military and commercial aerospace markets. Its major customers include Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut. As well as it's Connecticut Aerostructures Group, which has been in business since 1972, TIGHITCO, Inc. has other manufacturing operations in Atlanta, Georgia, and San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

245 Old Brickyard Lane consists of 2 parcels of approximately 38 acres with a manufacturing building of 97,000 square feet built in 1986. The property was originally developed and occupied by Sherri-Cup, a Berlin based manufacturer of cups and containers. In 2000 Sherri-Cup and its related business Sherwood Tool (located at 1 and 10 Main Street, Kensington) were sold to Sweetheart Cup. Sweetheart subsequently sold the business to Solo Cup and the Solo closed the Berlin facilities in 2004. At the end of the Solo Cup lease in 2005, Sherwood Properties Limited Partnership began to market the facility for sale. Sherwood Properties still owns the former Sherwood Tool property located at 1 and 10 Main Street, Kensington.

Commenting on the sale Berlin Mayor Adam Salina said, "This is a landmark event for the Town of Berlin. This facility has laid dormant since the departure of Solo Cup in 2004. It is outstanding news that 245 Old Brickyard Lane LLC has purchased the former Sherri-Cup facility and leased the building to TIGHITCO, Inc. The building was the Town's largest available industrial property and it is an important economic development asset. I believe that TIGHITCO, Inc. will be a wonderful addition to the Berlin business community and will provide over 120 quality job opportunities for area residents."
